I like such debuts. Though the Italian band Dope Stars Inc. started its career with the EP, it's the new debut album “Neuromance” that should be treated as the first brave step towards fame. And I must admit that it's the step you would make wearing at least New Rocks ;) Both DSI's ideas and performance are really impressive. “Neuromance” is the 2CD album: the first CD contains 13 tracks while the second - 18 bonus ones (such as covers made by DSI or remixes of their first CD). It's worth mentioning that the rexmixes for DSI were made by such bands as Punto Omega, Deathstars and Funker Vogt. The first track “10.000 Wats” is a new version of the song known from the EP alike some other songs included on the album “Neuromance”. In my opinion, it's the best track of DSI, comprising everything that is necessary for a hit; it's very energetic, attracting attention with catchy beats perfectly combined with aggressive, hard guitars. The music of Dope Stars INC. as a whole constitutes a completely new dimension of industrial rock, filled with electronics to an even greater degree, additionally including some dose of punk beat. While listening to the band for the first time you'll have plenty of associations eg. with Marlin Manson's vocal or Rammstein's guitars. However, after a while you may reach the conclusion that the quartet of the Italians created something absolutely new. All the tracks of the first CD introduce some interesting elements, still, the most intriguing are “10.000 Wats”, “Infection 13”, “Vyperpunk” and “Rebel Riot”. It's worth mentioning that what we have here is not only fast and aggressive tracks like “Plug N' Die”, or “Theta Titanium”, but also a ballad “ Make A Star”. Generally speaking, the first CD of the album is great and definitely it isn't boring. What's more, we are given the second CD. You definitely should pay attention to the first three tracks. “ I'm Overdriven” is a track that previously was available only as a video clip, while here it's added as a present for the fans. The next two tracks are wonderful covers: “Kiss” of London After Midnight and “Here in my arms” of the band HIM. The second is the most outstanding: even the people not particularly fond of the artist like it ;) The remixes made for DSI present a high quality as well; “Vyperpunk” by Deathstars and “10.000 Wats” by Punto Omega in particular. The second CD includes some more nice surprises, eg. 'Make a Star” in a club version. Finally, I just wanted to point out that the album was released professionally : it has a smart cardboard box, the booklet including lyrics, the poster and a sticker :all just with a thought of fans. The CD's design and the box itself make impression, too. Generally speaking, “ Neuromance” is a great album, perfect in every inch, but it's not surprising if you learn that its producer was John Foyer, a living legend, known of the cooperation with such stars as NIN or DM. I only hope that the next productions of DSI will represent as high a level as “Neuromance”, or even higher.
