HellEktro - Nightmare Before Christmas

In Ljubljana's occupied zone, Metelkova, the club Channel Zero (CH0) is the venue of the monthly organized event HellEktro. The entrance fee is five Euros.
In fact, HellEktro is one of the very few events in Ljubljana for the dark scene. On their creative flyers we already get an impression, what about this party is: Music from post-punk over EBM to harsh electro with the dress-code gothic, industrial, fetish, black.
The HellEktro crew consists of several DJs already established in the scene. From time to time other DJs, also from outside Slovenia, are invited to play. Usually each DJ plays two hours on the stage.
December's HellEktro had the subtitle "Nightmare before Christmas". Usually the gates are opened at about 22:00, but this time it took us longer to get in, as there was another event (some kind of techno-party) in the club Mizzart above CH0. We didn't know this before and, seeing the line, were surprised that HellEktro will be so colourful this day.
The first DJ is usually Nora Beti (Engl.: "Elizabeth Mad"), also on this day. Studying fashion design, her clothes are always an eye-catcher. Her musical spectrum is broader than that of the other DJs at HellEktro. It reaches from post-punk and dark wave over goth rock to EBM. For this day she has prepared some underground goth rock. Towards the end of her session she led over to colleagues with some EBM.
After Beti a DJ-team entered the stage, called Silent vs. Cyber. It was the first time I heard them. They played some Rammstein and Laibach, and I think a lot of people on the dance-floor were strangely surprised to hear Marilyn Manson at HellEktro.
Another well-known DJ, simply called Ludvik, played after Silent and Cyber. This slim and tall guy, who also dances during his colleagues play, is known for playing mostly EBM-classics, e.g. by D.A.F., Absolute Body Control or Front 242.
The last DJ on this evening is the organizer of HellEkro, Tomo. You can see that Tomo has fun DJ-ing as he moves his head a lot, but is hardly ever looking into the crowd, because he is steadily adjusting the buttons on the mixer to preserve the perfect sound to the audience. He plays harsh electro.
I can recommend to drop by at CH0, when you are in Ljubljana for a visit. The atmosphere of the club and the newly acquired fog-machine add a lot to the aesthetics of a great dark event. For the next month's HellEktro Funker, an EBM-DJ from my home city Graz, Austria, will be invited as guest-DJ. We are curious about which type of music we’ll be served.
