Murder Love God - Alter Of Evolution

I was never quite convinced to the idea of remixes - it seemed to me quite forced and most of all artificial. Therefore I needed some time to think it over, and finally I decided on "Alter Of Evolution" from Murder Love God. That record was released simultaneously with the studio album and contains remixes of older (and not only) tracks. Industrial music of Americans ranges somewhere between the achievements of Marilyn Manson (splitting "Optifail" with melancholic keyboards), German Terminal Choice (excellent both in original, and in the second version of "Kissing the Virgin", is closest to rock/industrial metal because of the exposed guitar parts that abrade with muffled synthesizers) or sometimes Blutengel without female vocals ("Droids" in its climax has a similar melody to "Save Our Souls" song from the latest record of the German duo). Noteworthy is the "Witch" (with a masterly statement "Everyday doesn’t suck, some swallow") giving an impression of heavy and overwhelming in the chorus (probably due to slowing play of instruments and strengthening of electronic inserts), and the flagship now "Defuser" which in Razorwire Halo remix takes a pulsating rhythm, just before the 'explosion' in the chorus changing into slow keyboards and relaxation. On the "Alter Of Evolution" actually there are no weak moments. Of course in some tracks appear small discords (synthesizer in the "Going to Hell" a bit like a frog squawk), but those are almost entirely inaudible in the background. After all it can be said, that it was a quite brave move for the Murder Love God, to release an album composed entirely of remixes (actually it is recently quite fashionable, even Antigama decided on that), it changed a little reception of their music. Even in the primary versions of some tracks you can hear considerable influences of electronics, that were only exposed by remixes. "Alter Of Evolution" without a doubt is worth listening, even just for a comparison with studio recordings. When it comes to buying it, it is far better to obtain the original versions of the albums, the surplus of electronics can cause a headache...
