Biography:

Started in July 1996 by Tuomas Holopainenhas, Erno “Emppu” Vuorinen and Tarja Turunen. Soon joined by Jukka Nevalainen Nightwish releases their debut album “Angels Fall First”. 2008 brings “Oceanborn”, which is significantly more powerful and professional than debut.

“Wishmaster” from 2000 is a huge worldwide success that sets Nightwish on their first world tour.
In 2001 is released “Over the Hills and Far Away“ EP which stays on the charts for nearly a year. To mark beginning of the new era, the band’s own online merchandise store Nightwish-Shop is opened in connection with the band’s home page.
With “Century Child” Nightwish gain momentum again, only to cement their position in 2004 with “Once” album, which is pure musical masterpiece, introducing new flavors to the band’s trademark sound with majestic orchestral and choral arrangements. It features singles  “Nemo”, “Wish I Had an Angel”, “Kuolema tekee taiteilijan” and “The Siren.” In 2005 the “Once” World Tour culminates in gig at Hartwall Arena, Helsinki, which is recorded for the forthcoming release, “End of an Era”. Just after the final concert, Tarja Turunen is presented with an open letter signed by band’s musicians, which decided to continue Nightwish without her.

In 2007 appears Anette Olzon as their new front woman and “Dark Passion Play”, which discovers new territories for Nightwish. “Imaginarium” is released in 2011 as a concept album and as a movie. But in 2012 Anette Olzon and the band part their ways, and new female vocalist is announced - Floor Jansen, from After Forever.

Latest work “Endless Forms Most Beautiful” comes in 2015. After different turmoils, the saga continuous!
