Biography:

NIN was formed in 1988 in Cleveland, Ohio. The founder of the band and also its only one permanent member is Michael Trent Reznor (17.May 1965). After a year of studying computer engineering and music, he was taking on various jobs. Finally, he ended up in the Right Track recording studio, where he first worked as a cleaner, and over the course of time he started to deal with demos made by various bands. At nights he was poring over his own material for PHM, which as he claims, was made only with the use of a Macintosh and a sampler. After some time his band's name was conceived: Nine Inch Nails. To this day he records his albums by himself and he plays the majority of instruments that are used during the sessions. Only during tours he is being accompanied by some "assistants". That's why always NIN = Trent Reznor.

The first record turned out to be success and it revolutionized the music industry. "Broken" was the opposite of Pretty Hate Machine - pervaded with anger and hatred (which paid off because he received the Grammy Award for the song "Wish".) He was recording The Downward Spiral while living in a house that had belonged to Roman Polanski at one time (the same house in which the "Manson Family" killed Polanski's pregnant wife and friends.) The album turned out to be decisive for Reznor. It is considered the best in his entire career. Aggressive music and shocking lyrics caused the fact that since that time Reznor has been considered a mentally unbalanced nutcase, who understands a murderer's psyche perfectly. Trent has kept his fans waiting for the new album for 5 years. During that time he put together soundtracks for films such as "Natural Born Killers", "The Crow", and "Lost Highway." He also recorded the soundtrack for the game "Quake" and produced Marilyn Manson's album "Antichrist Superstar".After a very well accepted album "The Fragile" (marked with depression and all the negative feelings), there was a time for the first DVD in the band's history – And All that Could Have Been with the recording of the tour "Fragility." In 2005 the album titled "With Teeth" came out. It was more hit-oriented and featured more guitar sound than the previous works of Trent's. The next DVD was a summary of the then finishing tour. Fans had mixed feelings about "Beside You In Time" because the European version was far more effective. The newest concept-album "Year Zero", according to the author, is supposed to present an anti-utopian vision of the world in the next 15 years. As the master himself states, this is not the end of the visions which he wants to show us. The last album published under the Interscope label is "Y3RZ3R0R3M1X3D" (Year Zero Remixed), which consists of the remixed tracks from "Year Zero" (similarly to the former "Fixed", "Further Down The Spiral", or "Things Falling Apart".)

Our Michelangelo, making use of his freedom, has decided to change the form of NIN's concerts. As for now, it is unknown how they are supposed to look like. Let's hope that they will not be the karaoke nights.
