The track "I fell in love with drum machine" released in 2008 by Australian duet Parralox became a blockbuster on electronic music scene. Today they are considered to be one of the best representatives of synthpop and their style is often described as tribute to disco and Hi-NRG.
"Metropolism" is a kind of a return to tracks included in the album which had been released a year before and entitled "Metropolis". It is not a mistake, the titles differ with only one letter – symbolic M.
Similarly to the difference in titles, the contents do not differ much. Four tracks were removed from the original album: "Miss You", "What About You", "Supermagic" and "Sharper then a knife" and the last two are considered to be hits. Instead there are "Freakopolis", "Touched by the hand of God", "The Hunger", "So special", "Let’s stay together". Despite these changes, the content creates dense and futuristic album based on the subject of love. Passion, madness, emotions mixed with clear rhythm and metallic voice create unusual atmosphere, characteristic for Parralox. Beautiful melodies and mellow voice of the vocalist ensure unforgettable journey into the timeless and spaceless world.
What is worth attention is the fact that the track "Touched by the hand of God" is a cover of the track by legendary band New Order. New tracks are not the only pearls on the album, remixes of the tracks from the previous album are one of the best remixes worldwide. The following artists presented their skills and ideas: Code 64,Dubstar, Edge Of Dawn, Iris, Markus Reinhardt, People Theatre, Rotersand and Tycho Brahe.
In one of the interviews John von Ahlen stated that in today’s world it is all about presenting a new image, a new message, something surprising every year. Why didn’t the duet follow that? Well, sometimes it is worth to refresh something old and serve it in a new, pretty good way. In this case it was a good idea providing listeners with amazing experience.
