User About:
A few years ago a friend of mine showed me a big fat book called something like ‘The 500 Best Rock Groups You Must Know’. He had bought it for his girlfriend’s birthday and before he gave it to her, we browsed through it together.

That I knew almost about every band some details, songs, the musician’s names and the like, fascinates him till this day and he tells everyone about it. That is how I became known as the ‘Living Music Encyclopedia’ among my friends.

This incident actually somehow influenced my life or, at least, helped me find my future way: until then I was simply unaware of my strong and serious interest in popular music and knowledge thereof. So my scientific specialization became musical anthropology and anthropology of popular culture. I remain intrigued by the interplay between the aforementioned social phenomena, the told (and untold) legends of music and its roots. I have been surprised by the scientific neglect of music’s role in society and everyday life – a fact that I am willing to change.

In the last years I have been learning several Slavonic languages, Turkish, Hungarian and Lithuanian, because I think amazing music scenes and groups can be found in the often overseen Eastern Europe.

Since 2011 I am also actively working as a musical journalist with an expertise on contemporary new wave music phenomena.
