The album „Deliberately Fragile” was released 19th February 2007 in limited and usual versions. My first meeting with Technoir was by accident (if we are to believe in such things) but if someone calls feeling-lucky search on myspace a purposeful then I agree it was done on purpose. And so it sometimes happen in life that one little detail can influence everything. In case of Technoir it was “Dying Star” that was a decisive factor for me to appreciate the band. It is the type of a song that once gets in one’s head it won’t leave or the one you’ll be listening forever because you’ll never get bored. It is strange though that not often (if ever) will you hear Technoir in parties. But maybe it is us who will start era of playing Technoir, with words it’s better late than never. I will try to be as objective as possible despite the sympathy I have for the band. The whole release is presented quite well with some exceptions however. Technoir lays stress on their songs to be melodic. On one hand it’s good, on the other it’s rather bad. The good side of it is a quick absorbency of the album; the bad one is predictability of following tracks. There is no different-story song on that album. They are all connected with each other but I do not say they are all recorded in the same way as I would be accused of spreading a heresy. The album is divided into two parts. I can say with clear conscience that up to track 5 the album is very good and below that number the level is on decrease. The exception that thwart my prognosis (as there are eleven tracks) is the eleventh track “Beatitudes”. I do not know whether this song was supposed to sum up the whole or was just a moment of reflection, conclusions and second thoughts or perhaps someone has just created something out of nothing that is followed by more nothingness and this way we receive a bleak ending that, unfortunately, lasts eight minutes. In first five tracks we have a very nice and calm “Breathe”, an interesting and melodic “Liar”, a harder beat in “Silenie” and two stunners of the album “Manifesto” and “Dying Star”. The second five-set starts from “Near you” and that is exactly how it ends. For me, “Near you” is a neutral one because I am neither able to distinguish anything for nor against it. The good points of this set are “All in my head”, which leaves a bit of hope for a good song (it’s the other side of the coin if really is, however) and “Darkest Days” which has satisfactory opening and ending. The weakest points on the album are “Break into Pieces” and “Everything I Cannot Have” with “Beatitudes” on top of that. Nevertheless, I do recommend listening to that release as maybe someone else will discover something I cannot see. And perhaps it would be an interesting item worth listening to.
