Theodor Bastard is one of the most unusual musical bands.
They were pioneers of folk-rock and gothic-rock in post-Soviet musical space in the beginning of XXI cetnury. Also shades of trip hop are present in the band's music.
The band's songs are very far from everyday life and from all earthly, they are inspired by myths and dreams.
The hallmark of the band is a female vocal by Yana Veva - the lead vocalist and author of many songs. Her voice is filled with powerful energy and in the same time with meditative serenity and pure warmth. Yana often sings in private language invented by her. And in rare languages ranging from African and Asian to Native American.
The band uses contemporary instruments: electric guitars, synthesizers, sometimes even termenvox, as well as rare ethinic instruments, such as Chinese flute bawu, Tibetan horn, Arabic darbuka, Persian daf, Australian didgeridoo, African kalimba, marimba, agogo, Brazilian caxixi, Appalachian dulcimer, Greek bouzouki and many other.
Theodor Bastard often performs at European musical festivals, such as Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Germany, Castlefest in Netherlands, Dark Bombastic Evening in Romania, Menuo Juodaragis in Lithuania and others.
The bans's albums were released in 5 countries: Germany, Mexico, Argentina, Turkey and Russia.
