soft verse makes its return to Leeds’ Wharf Chambers, showcasing the label’s own acts and associates Suda, Burning Pyre and friends in Newcastle’s Transfigure.

TRANSFIGURE – Newcastle’s finest ‘Euro-Wave’ trio; channelling the vocals of Saint Etienne and the arrangements of New Order whilst maintaining a vision that is set very much in the present, Transfigure sit next to their contemporaries Lust For Youth or First Hate in the more recent wave of electronic pop music. Listen to a track from their debut album ‘Translation’, released through Bordello A Parigi, here: https://soundcloud.com/bordelloaparigi/transfigure-tell-me

BURNING PYRE – Industrial-influenced ambient synthesiser music, juxtaposing from delicate and uplifting melodies to formidable rumbling noise during live sets. Tape to be released at some point in the year via soft verse, but for now indulge in "Insipid Dalliance", released on Russian label Perfect Aesthetics in 2016: https://perfectaesthetics.bandcamp.com/album/insipid-dalliance

SUDA - The double-headed child of the soft verse hive mind. Suda's first offering draws on the duo's respective punk and electronic roots: both tracks are rich, downcast and mournful, but span rough textures and classic synth-pop styles atop a linear neo-folk beat. New cassette ‘Up @ 9’ available to stream: https://soundcloud.com/softv/sets/suda-up-9-cs

£5 OTD, 8:00pm
