GEttNER is Jacek Gettner’s solo act. Drawing from a diverse array of influences including Electro Industrial, Oldschool Dark Electro, Synthpop, EBM, Gothic, and Future EBM, this one-man band creates a unique sonic tapestry. Situated in Aleksandrów Łódzki, located in Central Poland, the artist crafts music that seamlessly blends elements from various electronic genres, resulting in a captivating and dynamic sound.
In Poland, electro industrial projects can be counted on one hand. At one time, Wojciech Król, Egoist, and SKON were very active in this genre, and now we also have Adam Radziszewski and Jacek Gettner. I'm ashamed to admit that, although I'm familiar with the name, somehow I haven't listened to his material yet. It's my fault, and I'm making up for it now. There's a great opportunity to do so, as GEttNER has just released the brand new single 'Fading Lights'. This music carries emotional weight, evoking a sense of claustrophobia, melancholy, and sadness, which aren't typically associated with electro. The consistent sound sequences and intriguing side lines, along with the calm, slightly distorted vocals, complete the composition. The single also includes a remix that intensifies the atmosphere and adds solemnity, thanks to the subtle background of choirs of some sort or growing noise – hard to identify. The remix is much harder than the original and carries more solemnity. However, as I mentioned, the prevailing impression after listening to this single is one of profound, heart-wrenching sadness. It's difficult to pinpoint what exactly causes it, whether it's the descending vocal line or the decidedly dark melodic palette. Regardless, it's a very interesting release, and I plan to explore other songs released by Gettner in the near future. Highly recommended.
