Here comes the city siege! The fall of life. "Errklass" in its touching music makes the walls crumble and fall. Alea holds the weapon, although fragile, she won't let you think for a second that she's not capable of an attack.
The June Uprising (the record was released in that month) must have surely been theirs! October shall bring another triumph! There is no other way!
I used to think in my naivety that when the sky is covered in mists, the world ends on their border.
If I still perceived it this way, I would never believe that behind the black graphics, the hallmark of the band, there is so much light.
Alea's voice is so warm that it has to make even the coldest nights warmer. Her vibrant colouring combined with Lyktwasst's wonderful magical music is a light on the way to black, mist-dripping spaces.
"Espoirs" is a silent exit through the mists into a city. The siege has started. The story, too. Maybe it's a bit sad, but when you take such a positive song as "Untitled" on your journey. You just can't put that album on the shelf again. Sweet Alea.
LIFE'S DECAY is one of the best bands I have ever heard. It won't go unnoticed, accompanying you while your broodings on the misty road before you, and it's not hard to crush the walls of your own city. There's no claws or a gun you could fight with, but the siren voice kills everything on the spot.
Have I already told you that music has to strike me down? It strikes with no struggle. French magic or what? "Sphere" - slightly ambient, screaming by the end! Pity it's so short, and it lacks the tension. But once it hit exactly at 2:46, I was petrified! Blew me away! MIRACULOUS! How I love it! Come on, more walls await! Lyktwasst is rather consistent in building the sounds in the songs. "Classartic", immaculately perfected, soothes the senses of the listener. A solitary and rough violin reminds me of some passages on Carpathian Forest's cult "Strange Old Brew". What a comparison! I think it's a great trait!
"Majestueuse" destroys everything from the start, and I listen it as an ending track.
"Gloria" brings the story forward. Can you cry just like that, when the sounds fall hard, like from the stairs, straight onto your heads? Let it hurt! Such wonderful music must kill! I shall put my head down for LIFE'S DECAY endlessly.
I shall not give this record to anyone! Buy your own!
100% of perfection, if you ask me! Majestic music and a wonderful fragile voice.
