The album opens with exotic sounds of the Eastern civilizations, guitars and drums and chants. Tribal melody wakes up every particle of the body and makes the listener sway obliviously to the calm yet mesmerizing, deep rhythm. Music sweeps away the mind and body.
After a quiet, ambient Interludium I more ethnic tunes resound, as enchanting as the previous ones. Hypnotizing melodies mix with heart-beat like drumming and ethereal voices. Listener gets caught in the otherworldly atmosphere coloured with tints of antiquity, bright silks and phantom dancers.
Further on, the music takes the listener on a journey through intercepting ambient and tribal sonic landscapes, that stretch from eastern deserts to western cloisters and ritual cellars. Various instruments are adorned with mysterious chanting as well as disturbing monologues and dialogues resembling old independent movies.
The first break from the mood is a bit dancy Bring the noizz. Sounding slightly industrial, it wakes up the listener from a kind of trance. And divided from it, with a moment of calm and silence of Interludium V, is the second purely electronic song made for parties – Wir Wollen Tanzen. I must admit, that at first they spoiled the reception in a way. The difference between the ambiance was so big that it distracted me. However, after a few listenings I came to realize, that both fit in and simply bring a small break from tribal monotony.
After that refreshing interruption, ethnic and ambient sounds are back and, again, they put the listener under a trance. This time, however, more electronic sounds are added to the songs, that connect them to the previous ones and create a bridge to the following remix of Bring the noizz.
The album finishes almost brutally with the minimal, ambient Postludium – tristesse de la lune. It is just a short moment to take a breath before the whole material starts all over again. And again.
When I read that it’s industrial music, I have to admit, I was expecting something completely different. But as it is, I’m extremely glad I had a chance to listen to Ah Cama-Solz and, for sure, I will get to know the project better.
