Imagine that Robert Smith has a son, he grows up, assumed the band and called it Atomic Neon. This is how in one sentence it is possible to describe the style of German representatives of todays cold wave. However, it would be unjust to close this music group in one statement, and in the obvious comparison with the classic.
It is true that at first glance, one gets the impression that there is new The Cure Album in the player, but when the last song ends, you already know that this is the Atomic Neon and you release the disc from the beginning.
Change, second album of melancholic German, combines echoes of the '80s with melodic, British guitar sound. It is similar to the previous publishing (Darkenia), yet completely different. Still we are dealing with grief, suffering, feeling of loss in contemporary reality, a journey through the world of personal emotions, which contrary to appearances, does not make it grim, depressing album. Listening we have the impression that there is hope that the Atomic Neon, despite the sad faces, let go of our eye. The best example is the song Empty, where we find happily roam of the guitar, catchy melodies and emotional lyrics. Worth remembering is the song Last Light with the lazy maundering parties on the violin. Change is the album for longer listening. Each track has something unique and together they form a bittersweet trip in a setting of great composition and good lyrics.
