Autnna et sa Rose is an Italian quartet, associated with the neoclassical trend, better known to a wider circle of listeners from a cooperation with more popular Atraxia.
L'art et la Mrot is a record inspired by the cubism, an artistic conglomeration of different planes. A cello, a violin, a piano, as well as electric guitars and some elements of electronica can be heard on the album. When combined with melorecitation and opera singing, they alltogether become an extraordinarily rare, multidimensional sound mixture. And a cubistic one indeed.
Unfortunately, this diversity renders the record too chaotic; at some points I had an impression that the band tried to "stuff" in a particular track all the ideas which had come to their minds, forgetting that the sound itself had to be "molded" properly to make an above-avarage album.
Hence, some tracks take us to other worlds, relax us and stimulate our imagination, while others simply bore us.
I was taken away the sheer pleasure of listening by vocals which, to my point of view, were entierely inessential at some points, for the musicians did well on their own. Certainly, I do understand that lyrical part, which in most cases are poems written by Baudelair and Artaud, is the most important, it is the sopran though, whose beauty i do not deny, which makes the tracks sound repulsively operish, which might not be to everyone's liking. The recitation, which appears in two first songs, turns out to be more useful.
All things considered, the music itself is embracing and full of emotions. The main disadvantage is the vocal, which may ruin the whole atmosphere of a single track. As far as the advantages are concerned, electric guitars definitely are in the music's favor, rendering it more agressive and violent - the thing which is rarely encountered in the sound of the other bands of the genere.
I think that the record may appeal to the lovers of neoclassical sound, which are open to novelties and experiments of any kind. However, I personalny did not take a special liking to it.
