Blank - Dark Retreat
This is the third time when Italian formation Blank, takes us on a journey into the unknown. Through the "Dark Retreat" we can bury ourselves in the dark, dreamy electronic sound. Synthesizers are there endowed with the specific climate, which reminiscents of both these wonderful years of the 80-ies, in their flourishing time and dance beats, this time saturated with nostalgia, which allows a quiet of a pleasant feelings.
Album includes tracks that are calming, almost intimate, but they have their place in it as well as fast, and even vivacious pieces. Sometimes legs are itching themselves to dance. Sophisticated sounds, sampled themes like straight from the sci-fi movie are amazing and help fit in the right mood.
Among the tracks, attention is drawn by Dreamscape – a wonderful, soothing ballad that truly touches.
Lost Symmetry from the beginning is catchy – it is beautiful, sensual, putting it the right tones, and at the same it is seducing in an insidious way. There is something magical in that somewhat sleepy atmosphere, which in combination with the vocal of Elena Alice Fossi is more than tasty.
However, Dead Road recorded with the help of Elenor Rayner is very energetic, and each of the individual tones carries a high voltage.
