Calling All Astronauts - What's So Good About?
About a year ago Calling All Astronauts surprised the world with their first single 'Someone Like You'. The critically acclaimed trio was said to be the upstart of the year 2011. With their style an undefinable blend settled between punk and goth rock, Calling All Astronauts are devotees to a DIY aesthetic.
The third single by Calling All Astronauts, entitled 'What's So Good About?', is another positive surprise. The band chose to sing about socio-political topics again, as the video on youtube showcases – a montage of different footages broaching the problems of poverty, extremism, arbitrariness of politicians and the apathy of the people. Calling All Astronauts intend to remove the scales from people's eyes and make the deficiencies of society and politics visible.
The song itself has a catchy main melody, plays with different styles like punk, gothic rock and electronica. The grumpy question "What's so good about" our world and time will follow you in your dreams.
The other tracks, as on their first single, are remixes of the main song. A second one would have been nice.
