A pleasant disappointment with a lack of camouflage...
All is nice... Very melodic and electronically romantic... It's just a pity we are given a replay of the last year's album ... "Playing The Angel" according to a trio Camouflage.
I think the gents had been listening too much of Basildon albums... And working at their recent brain-child they remained under influence of the masters, which influence will go unnoticed only in case of the listener with no sense of hearing whatsoever, or the one who has never listened to Depeche Mode.
At "Relocated" there are few relocations (a ballad "The Perfect Key" - a real treat, the single "Motif Sky" and the track understandable only for its makers -- pompous "How Do You Feel?"). While listening to a song which has a smash-hit potential, I've impression of déja` entendu... In "The Pleasure Remains" I keep hearing the samples of the single "Precious" Depeche Mode. "Dreaming" echoes "Lilian". Dave Gahan seems to have his vocal part in "Confusion", and "Bitter Taste" is inappropriately Gore-like(slow rhythm, grieving vocal; at times the Martin's voice appears here...). Aren't there too many similarities as for one album? You will find a change in the final, over seven minutes long etude "How Do You Feel?" which is totally different from the rest of the album.
The German Depeche Mode persecuted by the masters resulted in pleasantly disappointing album "Relocated". They didn't succeed in camouflaging this time: there are too many similarities and references to the recent achievements of the real electronic romantics and too little real relocation and individual vision. My satisfaction of confirming the status of master and disiple makes me listen to Camouflage of 2006 intertwining it with the songs of the recent album of Depeche Mode. They go together perfectly... The only thing is that one of them was created a year ago. And it's definitely not the album"Relocated".
Tracklist:
1. Memory
2. We Are Lovers
3. Motif Sky
4. Real Thing
5. Passing By
6. Confusion
7. Perfect Key
8. Stream
9. Dreaming
10. Pleasure Remains
11. Bitter Taste
12. Something Wrong
13. Light
14. How Do You Feel?
