As it is said inside the album's booklet, Diorama explores conscience, psychical traumas, biassed decisions, ambivalent attitudes. “ Amaroid” is not an odyssey into the emptiness, but the journey through the meanders of interpersonal relationships.

From today on friendship is logical. The girl announcing Your girlfriend, who came to visit you, asks: „Have you had sex with two girls before?”. Somebody is leaving this world, someone becomes an addict, someone is drinking champagne to everything and everyone. The wheel of nature is spinning.

Musically “Amaroid” is a very cohesive record. Rhythmic, melodious songs, excellent for singles („The Girls”, „Prozac Junkies”), alternate with those more nostalgic, melancholic and meditative ones(„Friends We Used To Know”, „Someone Dies”, „Champagne For All”). „Amaroid” is an album which goes on and on in your CD player.

And it's possible that I'll be virtually lynched by Diary of Dreams' fans, but I totally disagree with the opinion, which recently astonished me. To wit: Diorama copies DOD. But I say: there are no sings of cloning here. Without excluding sadness and gloom from Torben Wendt's music. And I don't think that Adrian Hates (the “brain” of DOD) or anybody else could usurp the rights to monopolise these black feelings ( neither is it logical nor is it this kind of living, to act like this...).

Diorama has worked out their own style and consequently locks on to it. “Amaroid” proves it perfectly. I'll say more( underlining that it's my point of view): Torben Wendt, with his way of singing in different moods(especially on this record), excels the master of German darkness! With one sung verse he is able to destroy the peace of the present and knife you in the point in the heart where the ghosts of the past are hidden. And nostalgically – reflective charm of Diorama's cannot be compared with the depths of paralysing sorrow of Diary of Dreams. These are different stories...

[ For the insiders: „Sythesize Me” vs. „Drop Dead”.]
