One of more interesting sexual fetishes is ASFR (from alt.sex.fetish.robots, name of forum dedicated to this subject), which object are humanoid robots. People devoted to similar fantasies describe themselves as technosexual - and there is no project in the musical world, which name, even by analogy, would not be more associated with this than Electrosexual. It is created by French DJ Romain Frequency acting on vast Berlin scene, who with the single "Fetish [ASFR]" proves once again (after enthusiastically received "Tempelhof" and "Art Support Machine" album) that is nowadays its most interesting element.
Although "Fetish" is not directly dedicated to ASFR, but uses it as an excuse to express freedom and wealth not only of sexual imagination, but also artistic one. And as technosexuals divide into two fractions: "Built" (subject of fantasy is having already finished android as a partner) and "Transformation" (transformation to humanoid robot) similarly can be classified compositions on the album.
BUILT: The first sounds flowing from the speakers cause euphoria and almost joy, as if at the sight of long-lost good friend - pulsating bass line created by Roland TB-303 synthesizer leaves no doubt that Mr. Acid House decided to seduce us - which you surrender without any objections. This is a quite different stylistics than "Tempelhof". It is harder, danceable, sci-fi visions were replaced by hypnotic mechanical beat and relentless acid sound. Of course, already known from "Tempelhof" analogue layers also appear - but only for a moment during course of entire progressive track, which will definitely satisfy old stagers of acid house, who require in composing "a think up". And to that "Fetish" drills like a screw on the single’s cover - removing it from the skull will be really difficult.
"The way they make you feel (Extended Version)" has even greater mesmeric potential. Introducing listener into a trance, extensive, emotional electro composition spreads a certain aura of mystery, while revealing with time more and more composing tricks. Here fits well gentle, cool as a breeze vocal with audible hint of sadness, with imposed effects almost melting it to one with electronic phrases - which implements perfectly theme of the loss of oneself.
TRANSFORMATION: Both remixes surprise. The first – done by Mondowski – slowing, skillfully combines techno with synth-wave, which creates a unique atmosphere, a bit disturbing, a bit psychedelic, certainly appealing. Almost unrecognizable comparing to original maintains the highest level. Henning Specht’s remix falls out worse, although it is worth hearing for its extreme difference from the rest of material. Admittedly, in few places was left TB-303 line that runs in the background, but it is mostly acoustic, guitar composition. To the originally instrumental track were added vocals, which, in my opinion, only damage this version.
Fetish is a too big word, when it comes to a commitment of the listener to musical project, but when it comes to, how and capabilities to conquer European club scene, it is certain that Romain Frequency is sure to sing like princess Elsa from recent Disney’s blockbuster, he has the power.
