Music one has to grow up for. I remember moving that album to a sidetrack two years ago, yawning with boredom, taking it for another pseudo-industrial creation. It's good that we're born to make mistakes and learn from them - and that was a big mistake, I'm sure of it now. Fetish 69, very atmospheric music somewhere between industrial and darkwave, but mostly looking for its own style. Quite successful it is, I must say. The most important thing on this record for me is the mood. I am not quite sure what affects it, as there's a few elements creating a dark atmosphere.
The voice - using the so called theatrical whisper, hoarse, evidently shoved through a computer console and modified there. Another asset is the interesting tone of voice which he has. He shows what he can in the very first track, in which the vocal harmonizes with the music, which, in this case, is only an outline for the song. Digital processing of the voice is even better heard in other tracks, like e. g. “ Cancer days”, where, instead of theatrical whisper, one can hear something close to scream through the megaphone. What doesn't change is the style of the vocal, singing with such speed, that border between speaking and singing blurs. Music is dark, definitely. However this word is rather funny, no other can better describe the mood of this record. Sounds are really dirty, artificially grimed. Mostly electronic, languishing and kind a distant. While listening to it one has associations with some dark backstreet or dive in the city centre, where rather nobody goes in fear of losing one's life, but one, who dares to go there, while sitting and drinking beer gains an VIP status. Sorry for using this euphemism, but I think that that kind of descriptive form is more useful. The range of instruments used is rather poor, electronic percussion sounds like old, worn, metallic drums, the guitar with fuzz produces extended howl and the bass guitar building the outline of melody.
All in all “ Fetish 69” is an album, which has just come back to my playlist and will rather stay there. To be honest, I'm really very surprised, that i could have been so blind and not see the art of this project. I regret and promise betterment.
