I'm listening to the third track and I already have an impression that I've been tired with this music for the whole day. I realize that not all the projects must be thrilling. And this one isn't. I wonder what is wrong with the album that it doesn't charm me, appeal to me that I don't want to listen to it again.
It's boring and repetitive. It might be safe, and at the same time universal, but safety also makes it sound empty and transparent. I have nothing to say about it. I doesn't evoke any emotions whatsoever. Actually, the album is correct, it's electronic music nice to listen, the vocal isn't too bad. So ordinary though... all this is so unspecified. Danceable melodies;one could even have fun with with it, sing to it even, but the tracks are tiresome with its length. Despite the impression they are not long, but there is this one motive that is exploited time and time again to the verge of torture. There is no point to it, only the uncertainty – let me call it shyness.
Perhaps if there was an image, a kind of supplementation in a form of a film, anything, it would become more clear. It's just that after a while I forget what I've been listening to. I can't write the album off or say that it's is totally bad. It wouldn't be fair. There's something to it, that appeals to a listener of electronic, melodious, leave-the-consciousness-inviolated sounds. Still, what I prefer is a taming quality of the music. It doesn't matter how, if only it makes one realize that the given music is irreplaceable. Yes! That's the word! Replace! Fluke is replaceable by any other band on this particular album. It's similar to many other, it brings nothing new. I'm trying to say that innovation is a measure for good. It's about novelty for novelty sake, but about searching for a new language to express it. To make it little less empty. This calamitous Puppy is not like that at all. One of many...
The tracks are repetitive. Some deserve attention tough. Lady's vocal on "Electric Blue" sounds nice. It's a shame that it so little of it... It sounds interesting, it adds to the melancholic quality of the electronic sounds.
And the most important for me... Actually, one may wonder what the purpose of placing it on the album is. But I won't be so fussy. "Come Back To Me" makes the quality of the project 100% better. It's a great track, the ready and closed entity it doesn't need the rest of the tracks to charm. On the contrary. Because of the excellent female vocals it's absolutely outstanding on "puppy". There are no electronic melodies in the foreground, but there is a wonderful atmosphere created by the talented voices. It makes me want to sing! Where does it come from? Ach! I already like it! A lot! The rest of the tracks may envy it its charm.
