Before the new single "Only Better" has appeared, it’s been three years since the last CD (supp. "We Collide"). Then I already had the sense that the new album will not disappoint me. As far as you can state that after having heard one song. You can, and I wasn’t wrong.
In October "A Perfect Solution" was released. As always, the musicians give 100% of themselves. Electronic improvisations plus characteristic vocal. There’s no doubt that English boys can perfectly adapt to of ten changeable trends in music. It is not a release-continuation. It is something new. Something you might like or not.
An opening and also welcoming song is "If We Stay Here". To be honest, none typical "intro" is needed here. This song superbly introduces the atmoshphere of the whole album- heavy synthetic sounds. And that’s how it is during the next few songs.
Suddenly we hear "How long", 6-minute track, which strikes at once with its multilevel structure. Deep bass at the background, effects, keyboards at the foreground and vocals. Listening to it we have impression that the lyrics and music were created at the same time. Next, "Who Says" with famous words "A perfect solution" in chorus. Another breath grasping piece.
"Want You", the secondo last song on the record is a one-off. Despite it’s the shortest, we don’t hear this "loud" accompaniment, Just slight "synthetics".
A sigh before the final "Bitter End".
At first moment we can have a problem with this song. The composition doesn’t fully fit the scheme. From musical point of view it could just as well begin the album. Vivid playing which inclines for "more"...
It’s worth to add that the album was also released in a special limited edition. The package (except CD) contains vinyl with a single ["Only Better" (Ollie's Mix) and Hold And Restrain], 48-page booklet i.a. with song lyrics and a large poster.
Tracklist:
01. If We Stay Here
02. Only Better
03. Everything I Made
04. Is It So Hard
05. Hold It Together
06. It's Gone
07. How Long
08. Who Says
09. Hope. Dreams
10. Want You
11. The Bitter End
