I had a Chance to Get familiar with coming-from-Krakow Reconstruction a coupe of years ago, when I landed on their concert by accident. It wasn’t the most lucky beginning of acquaintance in the world, as the concert disappointed me a lot, despite it had seemed promising before. Thus I was even more curious about how they will sound in studio. Fortunately, I manager to get their album "Electromechanic" from 2006, which I shall try to review now on.

It’s a long record (1 hour & 10 min. Means no joking) and unfortunately it is dull. I can image that such a statement won’t entourage you to continua reading but I hope there’ll be some of you who will want to know some more and keep reading the whole review. First of all, the album has a heavy industrial feel seasoned a bit with some dark ambient sauce. Does it sound interesting? Unfortunately, it’s just theory. Most of the compositions are too long and too monotonous. Well, it’s not that the record is a total crap. There are some interesting moments, such as "By lepiej uciekac", "Blind" and "Slonce w znaku much". Yet "Blind (repryza)", which opens after 2 minutes of silence, as the last song, is really tiresome. And the sequence of cracks, rasps etc. coming on afterwards is even more wearing, I have no idea what was the purpose of using them at that place at all. I suppose this was meant to add somewhat of an industrial feel to it, but it’s definitely too long and simply fatiguing. Fortunately, the lyrics written in Polish, which sounded so exaggerated on concert, in a studio version are not such a strong earsore anymore, as the vocal is a little bit "behind" the rest of the sounds. I’m afraid it that they bring to my mind the lyrics of Frontside meaning their value and quality (especially, musically really interesting by the way, "Slonce w znaku much"). Certainly, there is something on this album that’s likeable and it is all sort of electronic used in here. It fits pretty well with the real instruments. But the problem is that, except tracks that I’ve mentioned (perhaps here we can add the instrumental intro "Bandazowanie glowy" and maybe "Frighten & Betrayed"), the whole thing is boring and drowsy. Perhaps it was supposed to be like this, maybe these sounds were just meant to be so dehumanized and even oniric. But personally it doesn’t make this record appeal to me.
Is it worth to listen to this album? Now that’s a tough question. Theoretically, in wikipedia (yeah, I know it’s not the best source of information but surely the most popular one) Reconstruction is placed as one of the most important Polish industrial bands along with Agressiva 69. Then I have a feeling that there are people who would like this album and they might think what I’ve written here is a pack of rubbish. Still, this issue was not Any kind of revelation to me, although it left me with some better impressions than the mentioned ill-fated concert did.
