When two years ago, due to among others "London" song, for the first time I had contact with "exploding boy," I thought, it was just a temporary infatuation. So called one season’s  adventure. I was wrong. The Swedish representative of music from post-punk and new-wave climates proved lately how much.
Album "Four", as you might guess, is the fourth record released by band. Title itself suggests one association: lack of originality and creativity in name may mean, content of record will be similar. That group will not surprise me anymore. That what I find on new album, will be not as much as a repeat of what I have already known from their previous accomplishments, but even that it will be a little surprising and unbearably boring secondary thing. Pretty big anxiety. And mistake. Mistake number two. Because it turns out that listening to the album is extremely well - material is consistent and more mature, and change of pace, which is served by band, by using faster and calmer tracks, is balanced.
In the world of "Four" we enter via dynamic, guitar and yet very melodic chords of "Cracked - Reasons" song and following it "Street Cliche", in order to change into a calm tone of ballad like, though the title does not indicate this, "Going to Hell". I do not know if this is misleading impression, but melody and sound of these tracks reminds me atmosphere of American "She Wants Revenge" that I like. If it is a mistake number three judge by yourselves, because another track on the record is "Dark City Pt. II" that can perhaps resemble to everyone from time to time "Lucretia" from Sisters. And there is nothing wrong with it, because song is very vivid and varied, rightly chosen as one of the singles promoting album – it defends itself. It is one of my favorites on this release. Listening further we run away from associations thanks to calmer: "Runaways" and "Awfull", and then again we speed up for a while with great "Shadows", which in every minute not only spins but draws in. In rhythmical sway keeps us "Always" and a little calmer "Get it out". Album is ended by undoubtedly one of the best tracks on this release "Scared to Death", which can so effectively sway and drawn that after hearing its last tones on autopilot I turn in as mesmerized "Play". To listen to the entire album once again. To let be swallowed by charm again. Because "Four" is as a well composed drink – intoxicates and with every new one it is absorbed better, until total perdition.
