Type'o'Negative - Dead Again

I can't hide that I would be more than happy if Type O'Negative decided not to cut off from their earlier accomplishments and recorded an album that would be the copy of "October Rust". I can't hide that exactly that period of Big Peter and his mates' output is the closest to my taste, and "October Rust" has been the most played album in my CD player. The climat of "Dead Again" , however, is as close to songs like "Love You to Death" or "Red Water", as the last recordings of Mortiis to what he recorded 10 years ago, during his fascination with pointy ears. New Type is more rock, more punk and more austere, harsh and heavy. You listen to it without neither pain nor excessive delight. Just a fair piece of work of the band with such practice, that they would easily make music between vodka and appetizer with eager female fans still on their lap. NO, it's not bad; I just expected something much better and "Dead Again" is ,unfortunately, disappointing. Pluses: opening, fast and rythimcal "Dead Again"; slower, climatic "September Sun" and "Halloween in heaven" with chorus sang by a woman with velvet soft voice. Minuses: boring and extended from 10 to 15 minutes waltzes where you restrain yourself from pushing "next track" button far into cover of your CD player.

To sum up: the fair piece of craft work, that wasn't able to hold me for a while by the speakers, not to mention purchasing the t-shirt, a bar and painting a room green. If you are a romantic gothic girl who, blushing, fantasize about the famous Peter Steele's session (roses, candles, naked Pete with black, falling hair and massive dong accusively pointed at heaven) at the same time listening to sensual groans of "Can't Loose You" closing "Bloody Kisses" - subtract 20 from my opinion. If you, however, like to smash you room to the rythm of "Kill All White People" - add 10.
