On August 23-24, the 14th edition of Prague Gothic Treffen took place.

The line-up was very interesting, so the audience was pretty huge and there was a crowd at the concerts both on Friday and Saturday.

The event was organized in three locations, but close enough that moving between them was not a problem.

On Friday we had a chance to see Das Funus, Lakha Muza and, as it turned out the sensation of the festival, the Canadian band ACTORS, while on Saturday the concert night was opened by the Slovaks from Project203, then the sensational Swedes from KITE appeared on the stage and then, as the headliner, COVENANT.

Das Funus presented a mix of gothic vocals and electronic melodies, a very good start to the festival. Lakha Muza traditionally stood for an incredibly theatrical, colorful and expressive show combining the spectacular vocals of Gudrun and the power of guitar sounds.

Both bands performed very well, and yet ACTORS stole the hearts of the audience. The band is currently touring Europe, the day after the concert in Prague they played in Berlin and on September 5th and 6th they will perform in Poland - in Wroclaw and Warsaw. Strongly energetic, post-punk playing warmed up the audience gathered in Prague so much that no one seemed to mind the tropical temperatures in the club. After the concert, there was a chance to meet with the band, which some eagerly used.

The electronic sounds presented by Project203 offered a strong kick off on Saturday. Emotional vocals and hard, cold sounds constituted an interesting, highly danceable mix. Then the next sensation of the festival appeared on the stage - the Swedish duo KITE. Nicklas Stenemo and Christian Berg gave a wonderful concert sparkling with energy and emotions. Amazing hits like "Johnny Boy", "True Colors" or "Ways to Dance" moved the audience and evoked a truly heated applause. Beautiful lights, impressive equipment and energy of both musicians made it probably the best concert of the whole festival in my opinion.

The last of the concerts belonged to COVENANT, of course. The band probably appeared for the first time in combination 2 out of 3, because only Eskil and Daniel Meyer appeared in Prague. The set developed quite gently, from the already standard electronic intro, but I think that fans of older hits were not disappointed, because the artists played, among others, "20HZ", "Ritual Noise", "We Stand Alone" or "False Gods". It is hard for me to assess this concert - I have seen their concerts played in a better, more energetic form, but there were also some less splendind ones, so the Prague one seems to be somewhere in the middle of the scale, there was a lot of energy and interaction with the audience, so I think that the fans were satisfied in the end.

The impression of the whole event is very positive - both musically and socially, it was fantastic. The organization and the audience - great. I recommend to everyone both the event and the city - because who would not want to visit Prague during the day and play at night to his or her beloved music?

Thanks a lot
