Meskalina club has been famous for its wide range of parties dedicated to alternative music, hosting the artists that, more often than not, have possibility to present their sound achievements to the gathered audience. Hence Arms and Sleepers visited Poznań on a certain Tuesday evening.
The event was due to start at 8PM, however, the band kept their lovers, hungry for sensations, in suspense for almost 40 minutes before finally appearing on stage, putting an end to this state of anticipation with thier enthralling, 72-minute show of extraordinary abilities. Fotrunately, the performance lasted longer than it had been excpeted. Yet, let me start from the beginning. At 8.40 PM two inconspicuous artists came on stage, wearing sport outfit with hoods on teir heads. When first tones resounded from not-that-big a stage, the audience got mesmerized by a properly-heated musical cocktail. We were served a wide spectrum of sounds, starting from very amtospheric keyboards, subtle percussion, acoustic chromatic bells or the sound of reverbating guitar. There was a truly intriguing musical equipement on the stage whose message implied that times are constantly changing. Along with the technological developement, those who bring sounds to life have been increasingly resorting to using laptops as their main support. Still, it does not change the fact that without live instruments the concert would not have succeeded in a way. The distorted guitar and amazing, at times disturbing or even traumatic, sounds created by means of SMYCZEK, were continuously sending shivers down our spines.
Each track met with a loud applause, the interesting fact about this is that Arms and Sleepers had not even expected such a warm welcome. After each and every piece of music they would thank the gathered people, whose positive feedback managed to encourage the band to encore three times, additionally playing 4 more tracks.
Their set did not lack such pieces as "80/20", "Simone" or " The Architekt", which was outstandingly well-received by the listeners.
A subtle flirt of the perfoming musicians and the audience was just as successful as somewhat a departure from trip hop samples in favor of a marriage with ambient. Dream-like sounds and delicate samples resulted in highly animating performance. Arms and Sleepers proved that sometimes it is worth to stop to listen something really good.. The whole was complemented by a range of interesting visuals, which definitely emphasized the exceptionality of all tunes.
