There’s one and only, merciful and really the mildest definition I can find to describe this event: organizational fiasco. OK, I am bound to say that our job is to a large measure about musical reviews– but concerts are the whole event and this is how we are supposed to treat it. Everything matters – the stage superficies, the energy transmitted/evoked in(to) the audience, the artists’ behaviour, the standard of music being created and its performance. And, last but not east, the event organizers’ flair to put things in order, also the so-called tour managers, responsible inter alia for a particular band’s promotion in countries where they want to play a show. I’m aware that not everybody have to know our country and the manners of living in it, nay! one can assume that the gothic community (at least a part of it) will – in colloquial terms – not give a damn for such event as Easter, important for a few significant factions of christianity. From Polish to Polish: on Holy Saturday we do not organize concerts because in this country people may simply not attend them. It doesn’t matter if somebody is visiting temples, it’s their private business – nevertheless, it is pretext for reconditioning/tightening family bonds, which are beyond any required religion’s influence. Thus, it’s no surprise that in front of the stage there caroused – during the top moment – the whole thirty six people. Plus the Progresja club’s crew (including the sound engineers, a barmaid and a cloakroom attendant) and our editorial staff could hopefully make a number of fifty. Most of you certainly know the Progresja club’s capabilities and what the concerts look like taking place in there. Well, this time it was highly contrary. But there’s no need for finding the culprit.
The true fan girls, 15 year-olds average, covered the stage barriers valiantly. Great fun, I’d gladly do the same on some bands’ shows, so I understand and appreciate, so let Blood enjoy having such faithful fans.
First the supporting band started – Victorians, a Polish group of wannabe-victorian look, quite a pleasing view. As for the musical level, it wasn’t bad either, something between Nightwish and Within Temptation, at least on vocals – for an unskillful ear it might have been interesting, likeable, but a person proficient at voice emission could notice that either the vocalist is a veeery talented self-taught, or a student of some music academy, who doesn’t really feel like attending the classes. If this was supposed to be a rock/metal/ whatever vocal than it was too opera-like, and if it was meant to be opera – it was not opera enough;) After a few tracks it started to get monotonously. However, musically – maybe the harmony was not too sophisticated – but the guitar guys had a lot of fun and they even managed, at some point, to catch the gathered audience. So, as I’ve said: very talented amateurs with a great heart for what they do or musicians who have a good idea but they are slowly losing the sense of what they do. Nevertheless, the atmosphere was quite coherent, which is also a merit.

And then Blood... over some things a curtain of silence must be drawn. These are unpleasant things which are quite inconvenient for the band, so I will limit my opinion to a comment on music – a good energy, the extremely charismatic vocalist, the stage appearance of the band - stunning, the concert in general: very good. If only the guitar players had their instruments plugged in... Alright, I’m done, or I’ll unwind. Besides, Japanese music has typical unprecedented melodies, which could perfectly be heard in the vocals.
To conclude: only for fans of the genre with a big amount of tolerance to intividualistic eccentricities. The guys went so much into their "roleplays" that for a moment they lost humility, which EVERY musician MUST have if their wish is to constantly perform in front of a crowd, to delight people, etc. etc. "Dripping with fucking goodness" are usually not that awesome as they think of themselves. It is then already when they start to brush against ridicule and evoke feelings of, in the best case, forbearance, in the worst – disdain.
I still don’t understand what is the point in doing concerts on the other side of the planet globu, if respect towards the listener does not even includeregaling him or her with the true music, being a musician. That was a pure superfluity, without any value introduced to the audience’s lives. They’re lucky they can afford it.
I’ll say it once again – I’d recommend it only to (psycho)fans of j-rock stuff.
