On 4th April 2012 Laibach will visit Łódź, within their concert tour "We come in peace". Its name is no accident, as the band will promote the music created for the movie entitled "Iron Sky". This motion picture is a SF comedy that oozes with special effects. The movie has been in the production process for quite a while now and is due to have its premiere... exactly on 4th April! A person who is responsible for its realization is Timo Vuorensola, also known from working on "Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning".
The plot of "Iron Sky" is rather controversial in terms of politics, as it regards the nazis and their fate after the downfall of the Third Reich. At the end of the Second World War, the Germans send a space ship from their base on Antarctica, heading straight for the Moon. There, on the "dark side" of it, they plan on founding a colony, Schwarze Sonne (The Black Sun). The other side of the moon is also a place where they gather their forces and devise the ultimate plan of taking control over the Earth. When year 2018 comes, the space invaders decide to strike. However, dwhile putting their subterfuge into effect, they encounter a couple of obstacles. And this is where the comedy itself really commences...The rumor has it that from the very beginning the director of the movie wanted Laibach to compose the music. This sheer thought became somewhat of a stylistic determinant, not only for the soundtrack, but also for the overall concept of the motion picture. By means of its sound, Laibach was to create an individualistic, slightly airy world. On 4th April you will be given an one-of-the-kind chance to find out if the band have really met those not-that-easily-satisfied requirements.
Obviously, the concert will not be focused on one particular subject, that is the movie; the atendees will be also treated to a number of compositions from the band's thirty-year-old musical output. One can expect such pieces as "Brat mój" (Brother of Mine), "Država" (The State), "Mi kujemo bodočnost" (We Are Forging the Future), "Krvava gruda – plodna zemlja" (Bloody Ground – Fertile Soil), which account for a set named "Revisited".
Hence, do not hesitate to attend the event and find out what comes out of the amalgamation of nazis, industrial and space invasions!
