While exploring YouTube, quite accidentally I found Leandra and her song "Naked Eyes" that caught my fancy thanks to its perversity. As a result I started searching who she is and for whom she plays. Leandra turned out to be an artist who released her solo project entitled "Metamorphine" not so long ago (in February 2008). This record may be considered as her first steps in being an independent artist, however the stage is not strange to her. She cooperated with Jesus On Extasy playing the keyboard. Thus, we are in the industrial house with the gothic-rock hall and electro- garden.
I was listening to "Metamorphine" with hope that I will hear more surprising songs such as mentioned "Naked eyes". Satisfied I have to say that the first six songs in the album are worth replaying. These are: "Noisy Awareness", "Lie To Me", "The Art Of Dreaming" with Sven Friendrich, the vocalist of the popular German gothic band Dreadful Shadows, next my favourite strongly involving "Coloured", "Naked Eyes" mentioned for the third time and "Angeldaemon". Other songs are a bit heavy, there are too many contradictions. As lack of distance is often a side effect of debut albums and artists want to give us the best, let’s turn a blind eye to the excessive efforts here.
According to Leandra changes are the only permanent thing in our lives we can be sure. That’s true, nothing stands still, everything changes. Reflexive CD, musical stories, mysterious vocal, deceptive and incredibly feminine record, occasionally you can hear the echo of Björk, note of determination with something you can’t resist or object. The stream of feelings, fantasies and fascination may be conidered as the main force of these recordings.
