CDs catalogue:
LecteR - the band from Opole, Poland, at first under the name of Dr. Lecter, has released their debut album last year, titled "Inside / Outside". As the band writes for itself, the record is kept in the style of alternative rock with elements of electronic music. We can hear echoes and inspirations from Joy Division, U2 and Depeche Mode. And with the latter band Lecter's music is probably most associated with at first contact. And this is primarily due to the vocalist and leader of the band, Roman Bereźnicki, whose voice and manners of singing are very similar to Dave Gahan's of DM.
The album's 12 tracks remain fairly stable. Already in the opening track "Help" the group presents what best they have to offer. The sounds are interesting, not only electronic but also e.g. acoustic guitar or vocals that are curiously rendered.
The album has been promoted with the song "Morning", which the band also filmed a music video for. Although I think the more catchy piece is "Over", which can fit more as a hit promoting the album.
A very interesting idea was to use the trumpets in the song "Sign". We do not expect it here completely, but it fits perfectly into a bit sad melancholic nature of the song. A big hand for the idea.
The only fairly serious drawback of the album, in my opinion, are the lyrics. They are not too ambitious and the idea of repeating two or more times the same verses in the song somehow doesn't convince me. I hope that on the next albums the band will develop their penmanship.
The album closes instrumental, quiet "November". The song brings such a mood that we immediately want to turn the disc on again.
In summary, "Inside / Outside" is a very interesting album, quite stable. Without any stunning fireworks but also without obvious mistakes. I will wait for the next releases from the band with curiosity, for sure.
