The third solo record from the Australian is charmingly subtle... That for sure. Lisa Gerrard lures the listener with her spirited voice, like a siren calling out to a sailor. "The Silver Tree" is an oniric soul-voyage among ambient soundscapes.

The enchantress of sounds, known from the legendary Dead Can Dance formation, released through the equally legendary 4AD label, invites you to join her on a mystery-trip. The psychophysical state of a person that responds to the lure and listens to "The Silent Tree" carefully (at night would be best), can be described more like dead than dance. But in this case "dead" is not at all negative.

If you say "yes", Lisa Gerrard is going to take you for an hour-long voyage into the land of magical oniric osunds, delivering an inner katharsis for you in the process. During this soulscapade, you will be wandering in the moonlight and among the shadows of the night. Just like in life - through happy and sad moments. Those spent in exile, when you try to hunt down the shadows of the past. And those, when you plea woefully with Lisa's voice (just like the singer in Lynch's "Mulholland Drive"!), for some warmth ("Come Tenderness"). You ask sea for help. You pass Medusa's mirror, avoiding becoming a piece of stone ("Mirror Medusa"). You have a heart that is longing ("Space Weaver")... My Precious Love... Although, sometimes - like in "Serenity" - it speaks an unusual language (similar to that created by Jonsi from Sigur Ros).

Your wandering star, crossing lands of shadow and light, dies and is reborn again. The experienced katharsis is a cleansing and strengthening process. It experiences a spiritual metamorphosis. In the valley of the moon, it shall dance without end...

I strongly recommend "The Silver Tree" by Lisa Gerrard as a means of springtime revitalisation!
