Even if I wanted to write something more about Machtkrieg’s EP, it wouldn’t be possible as music presented is so typical it actually hurts. Classified as Rhytmic Nosie/Industrial, it does not leave any room for additional interpretation whatsoever. This could be considered a disadvantage, if it wasn’t for the fact that Machtkrieg knows exactly who his target audience is. So instead of pointing out just how unoriginal the music of the American project is, let’s just focus on what it has to offer.

As I already mentioned, Machtkrieg does Rhytmic Nosie/Industrial, and its no secret that Vince Gautier, the man behind this project, is fascinated with German scene, which could not only be heard, but also seen in the project’s name and the tiles of tracks. The presented four tunes (plus remix) of the EP is a classic example of the genre with an obligatory, constant beat, glitches, hissings etc. Nothing too fancy, even to the point when while listening to the EP for a few times tracks seemed lose any distinguishable features merging into one being. However, there is one tune with elements I’ve found interesting, and that is ‘Bunkertanz’. Adding to its rhythm’n’noise character some extra sounds, Machtkrieg managed to achieve an effect of depth (fragments 1:15 to 1:38 and 3:08 to 3:43). Why didn’t he expand this concept on other tracks? It could only help with the overall reception. Unfortunately, that was the only thing above average I could find. The big surprise, on the other hand, is the remix of ‘Bunkertanz’ by Mekanysis, which sounds almost exactly like the original, the only difference being the lack of the already mentioned ‘deep’ sounds. Rather odd, me-thinks.

Ultimately, ‘Bunkertanz’ is a piece for R’n’N/Industrial Uberfans mainly, especially for those into German scene, which narrows the circle of potential listeners. Music on Machtkrieg’s EP is perfect for the theme based parties, where it will most definitely find its place, though I doubt it would receive much praise. Average at most.

I am this guys brother, and... you spelled his last name wrong. Other then that, I suppose it is a pretty damn good review, like you said though he knows who his audience is and he does a damn good job of writing to the audience.
