You might remember my admiration for "Purgatory As The Serpent Domain", and now I am holding a new Nekyia release - "Slowmotion Downhells" and I am wondering if they are going to stick the level they had set themselves with their earlier release, which was rated pretty high. This time the music is a bit more low-key this time, and what we get is dark ambient with industrial and folk bits. In my humble opinion, such a coherence did well for the record. I have to add that the whole album has been sprinkled with very pleasant, at times demonic, wailing vocal, which adds superbly to the album's mood. After a few spins I noticed only a single drawback - the album could have been a little bit longer, as it leaves me hungry for more...
What can I add? Not too much, apart from telling you to listen to it with the volume up to eleven, as you will be able to enjoy the precise sounds carefully handpicked by the gentlemen of Nekyia only then. Looking at future releases, we can only wait for more equally good material.
