Ad Ombra was one of the first Romanian bands I decided to listen to. This time I have the pleasure to recommend their debut Rites of Genesis (equinox tremendum) released by Rage In Eden. Amazing thing for those who like daring combinations of neoclassical, dark ambient and industrial.
Once again (as in the case of the following album) the cover and the whole release in digipack is very encouraging. After having listened to all 15 tracks I came up with the idea that it is perfect stuff for a soundtrack of a good film. But are there any good and rich in meaning films for the music to be only a background? It is very nice to listen to this album in the evening; clearly dramatic character of it influences strongly the imagination. It is full of emotions and feelings in every minute, just beautiful piece of music. It must be said that it is very hard to find any shortcomings or any tracks created by force.
The album's creators ambitiously aimed at creating something dark and uncommon, in my opinion they did it perfectly. It’s almost hard to believe that it’s their debut because they seem so confident in this beautiful world made on Rites of Genesis. I think it is very mature and self-confident project and I am going to follow their activity with a great interest.
Tracklist:
01. Descort (;upon the face of the Deep)
02. Tempting the Insolence of Vision
03. Heart Sermons
04. Spermognosis
05. Thanatomia (litania mierae)
06. A pearled Remorse
07. Rituals of the Dormant
08. Exequies
09. Sycomore made Senses
10. Once upon Desire
11. Dusk Vanity
12. Sideranoia
13. Consolatio (Nachtlied der Reinheit)
14. Quarted Divine
15. Verigoplay: Genesis
