Biography:

Fading Colours, the forerunners of dark trance, are one of the leading Polish bands that play dark electronic music. They started their activity in 1986 in Bolesławiec nearby Jelenia Gora as a punk band called Bruno Wątpliwy. The founders - two brothers - Krzysztof and Leszek Rakowski later became the organizers of Castle Party and Vampira Festival. In 1988 the band won the Audiences Award in Jarocin and did the first professional recordings. At the beginning o the 90s a new vocalist -- Kasia Ziemek aka De Coy (future Leszek's wife) joined the band, which soon changed the name to Bruno the Questionable. In 1993 the debut cassette entitled "Black Horse"(published by SPV) was released and the band gave the concert as a support of the German gothic legend - Love Like Blood. Gunnar Eysel, the bass player of LLB was astonished by Bruno's show and decided to attract eastern publisher's attention to the band. The result of his action was a contract that was signed with Dion Fortune Records which included the recording of a new material in a studio in Hamburg, promotion in the whole world and a .... change of the band's name to Fading Colours which was easier to say. The album "Black Horse" released in early spring 1995 got enthusiastic feedback both from the audience and the critics. It was taken as a mark of a new trend of gothic rock and praised for the combination of modern, hard, guitar music, rich keyboard soundscapes with the elements of independent dance and characteristic vocals: once wild once oniric vocals of De Coy. The band played a lot of concerts both in Poland and abroad ( i.e the tour with Garden of Delight). In 1996 they made the EP entitled 'Time" that was a harbinger of a new direction of a musical journey. The 'live" instruments were replaced by a computer keyboards and a hypnotic voice of De Coy mixed with trance, dark electronic. The result was quite a new dimension of music. Darrin Huss of Psyche took part in one of the recordings as a guest and the one responsible for the remixes was i.a Andreas Bruhn of Sisters of Mercy. After the recording of the CD Fading gave several concerts in Europe and took part in some projects: for example in recording of the covers of Depeche Mode (Clean) and Kraftwerk (Metal on Metal) whereas De Coy sang as a special guest on the CD "Kein Gott und Keine Liebe"of Umbra Et Imago (Poesia Vampiria). In 1998 the last (so far) album of Fading Colours "I'm scared of..."was released. For many , this one is the best of ever released by FC. As a special guest the British artist Anne Cark took part in it and the CD itself was highly successful in the Eastern Europe and even in the US ('Zillo" the greatest German magazine of electronic music gave them a title of 'the talent of the month" and secured a special promotion). The band participated in the greatest European events connected with the independent music: starting from the Castle Party in Poland through concerts in Germany and England (i.a the controversial Carnival of Souls) up to the most famous festivals Wave Gotik Treffen and M'era Luna. In 2002 the CD "The Beginning 89-93" (published by MMP) was released and it featured the remastered version of the first "Black Horse" and two video clips. The next album will probably be out this year. During Castle Party 2006 we're sure to hear new recordings. It's worth mentioning of the solo career of the vocalist of FC - in 2004 the first CD of De Coy entitled "Pleasure for Nothing" was released. It was recorded together with Rudolf: the Kasia's voice may be also heard in the tile track of the album "Magiczna miłość" Suns of Arqa.
