Biography:

HIM is a Finnish rock band straight from the Helsinki. It was established in 1991 as His Infernal Majesty, by Ville Vallo, Mikke “Linde” Lindström and Mikko “Migé" Paananen.

However the name was changed to HIM, according to release of their debut album “Greatest Love Songs Vol. 666” in 1997. “Wicked Game” cover from Chris Issak brings the attention to the band, and their iconic status is cemented while setting the “Razorblade Romance”. More pop orientated, it brings sounds of the 80’s. The album features "Join Me in Death", which is one of the bestselling singles in history of Finnish music.
Next two releases – “Deep Shadows and Brilliant Highlights” in 2001 and “Love Metal” from 2003 were only a logical continuation of their huge success.
2005 brings “Dark Light” inspired by ancient mythologies and religions. “Venus Doom” features nine tracks that represent nine circles of Dante’s hell. Deep, low, heavy sounds combined with eerie-like vocals. The seventh studio album “Screamworks: Love in Theory and Practice” is more melodic. Latest album, entitled “Tears on Tape” is released in 2013.

HIM say their music genre is alternative, but the vocalist and fans call it "love metal". Ville Vallo claims also HIM started as a Black Sabbath tribute band.
What is sure – HIM’s music contains gothic rock, gothic metal, alternative rock, alternative metal and dark rock with melodic heavy metal. Also it is orientated on rock and roll, or rather gothic and roll.
