1. What's the connection between Tolkien's writing and Gorthaur?

At the moment it's only the name. When we were establishing Gorthaur the lyrics were based on J.R.R Tolkien's writing. Still, as the former vocalist, who wrote the lyrics, left the band we lost his stuff as well.

2. What made you establish the band and how did it happen?

The band was formed by our former drummer and the first vocalist of Gorthaur. I joined the band at the point when the band had already functioned for over a year. It was when our present vocalist - Darek – was already on his 'post', so I'm not sure if I'm competent enough to answer the question (joke).

3. Did the participation in the Festival Castle Party in 97' added to your development and increased the popularity of the band?

It's just something was going on then. We even recorded an interview for the Radio Wroclaw, but then the members of the band started to change again. The drummer was rid of the band and plenty of time passed before our new one got familiar with the music and before we started making new stuff.
As to the popularity - yes there was an increase, but only after the second concert on Castle Party, one year after.
The invitations to play concerts started, e.g we got one from the band Desdemona.

4. At the breakthrough of 98/99 the band had a stoppage in the artistic activity -what was the reason for it and what were the results?

Hmm. I'm not sure if I should talk about it. I'll try to beat about the bush a bit without using the names.
The thing was about the conflict between the two mates of the band.
The pride, honor and ambitions didn't let the members play together, especially that there were some other people of Gorthaur involved, too.
However, after a one year break Darek and me decided to go on with the stuff we  used to do quite successfully and so we did.

5. You undergo quite a rotation of the musicians in your band – does it influence your music in any way?

It definitely delays the development of the band and its music.
Another musicians is yet another waste of time as s/he has to get familiar with the material we work with. At the moment the members are stable and our co-operation is going smoothly, what, I believe, finds its reflection in the recent recordings.

6. What is in you opinion the music of Gorthaur like and who is it created for?

It's a very hard question...
Our music reflects our emotions, both the positive and the negative.
We often create the music when we're happy or depressed, so I believe you may guess what the final effect is like ;)
As to the recipients of Gorthaur music – I don't know what to say, really.
While playing the concerts we noticed the positive response of the wide and diversified range of people. Starting with the fans of heavy, hard sounds ending with those fond of pop, so I really don't know what the answer to this question is.

7. And what about the inspiration – is there any band you could justly call your guiding star? I'm asking also because I saw the references both to Cold Meat Industry and Dope Stars Inc. on your website  :)

Yes, we have many music inspirations. Recently our music has been marked by Samael, but the impact was mostly on production and sound. As to the references on our website these are only those I generally find interesting and noteworthy.

8. Your nearest concert will be on Dewocjonalia in Klodzko – and what next?

Next we will give a concert in March. If everything goes according to a plan we will play with Nun and perhaps with Desdemona in our little town (Klodzko).
Till then, I'm sure, we will get an offer or we will organize something on our own. Recently the things have been going on quite spontaneously.
