Siddharta interview part 2. This time the questions were answered by Primož (guitar).

Your last album was recorded live, which is a very original approach. Where did the idea come from and was it hard to make it work?

The idea came from a brainstorming session we had one day. We were thinking how to spice-up the stadium show we were putting on at the time. When Jani, our bass player dropped the idea we were immediately up for it. This kind of idea brings some uncertainties to a process (i.e. making of a record) that is usually quite certain and defined. We practiced like crazy as we had only one take to record the new songs.

You have worked on your last two albums in US with an internationally renowned producer, Ross Robinson. Did it somehow influence your music? How?

A lot. Ross with his approach to music-making redefined us as a band, gave us the self confidence that was lacking and pushed us musically and emotionally to the sky and beyond. We are grateful for that experience and still have strong bonds with him.

What made you start releasing albums in two language versions?

Through the attempts of spreading our music internationally, we were made believe that you need to have an album in English language for people to understand what you are singing about. I guess that this is true up to a point. However our live expression is way stronger when we sing in our mother language.

You play both huge stadium shows as well as in small clubs. Which do you prefer and why?

Both and neither. They both have their pros and cons. We love the masses and the roar of a stadium gig, and we also love the intimacy and eye contact at a club show. As musicians we prefer diversity, it’s what spices up the rock n’roll.

Last question, but an important one: what are Siddharta’s plans for the near and further future?

We are focusing on spreading the music internationally. We plan to visit Poland again as soon as possible, we have new material to record and then do some more touring. Isn’t that what it’s all about?

Thanks again, guys!
