Part 1: Pour Le Splendeur D’Empeire
Frankly speaking, I have expected something else. This is my first experience with L'Effet C'est Moi, but this doesn’t change anything. Well, I have been prepared for a big war battle but it turned out to be kind of a positional warfare. The first part actually has fast drum beats and even right tempo, but something is missing...maybe vocals?
The songs of adequate music level are those without drums (the problem is there are no such songs...) or those played in low tempo (like pleasing to the ear, Distance).
Music in this part is really good, a bit melancholic and a bit depressive. So it is far from a war bluster in its own right. The best point of this part is the mentioned above Distance. The song is a piece of really great music... A bit pompous but it is well sticking together.
Part 2: Et L’Obscurité De Son Pouvoir
The first piece of music from Et L’Obscurité De Son Pouvoir is a terribly dark part of the album. From the darkness emerges a great melody and the drums beat the rhythm of drunk SS soldiers...
Rituel De Sexe –here we finally found the song without drums. It is the one of the best on the album. Minimalistic melody and those low piano tones... just poetry.
The next song is ambient Soirée Dansante. It would be a pretty good track unless this circus-like piano at the end. Yes, I was surprised too, while hearing it for the first time.
Here we’ve also got a bonus - Saluer à La Romaine. I would take a risk saying, that this bonus is a real gem on this album. This, what begins from the second minute of the track, is a real hell of war. For me, it resembles the music from Company of Heroes, which means good.
Reassuming, Tomber En Heros is a pompous album (even too much, I think). I recommend it, but rather to people who are fans of this genre. While listening to a couple of tracks, I had an impression that the authors were making fun of me... The war by Italians seems to be a sort of circus.
(They have a great www site, it is worth seeing even just out of curiosity. The score would be exactly 50, but they got 1 point more for their internet site)
