The split of the French Storm of Capricorn and Polish Paranoia Inducta, is a way of paying homage to the victims of a conflict that waged in Balkans in 1943 (according to the publisher). At that time, Ivan Goran Kovacic, a Croatian poet met his demise, sealing his fatal fate by writing about the horryfing crimes which had taken place there. However, the performers think that with this album they express their objection to every senseless war in which hundreds or thousands of people die, an objection to any politician possesed by lust for power, a voice against human greed and pride. Are the creators' assumptions achieved? It's hard to say… However, I can say that Paranoia Inducta proves to be even better than I could judge from my experience with their music so far, and this split puts them at least half a notch higher than companions from France. "Jama" is very coherent and offers us an interesting journey through the Balkans. Storm of Capricorn brings ambient compositions, adourned with declamation of texts of unspecified origin, paced steady, and as a matter of fact, only during the last track "Only oaths and bawd yells" we can hear a wider spectrum of music, which can attract attention. Someone can say that I'm not being impartial here, because Paranoia Inducta comes from Poland, but I'll deflect that attack by asking the naysayers to listen to their three compositions on "Jama". They're simply much more interesting than the French ones. They arise from a perfect connection of industrial elements with Balkan folk music, and sometimes even with sacral music. As I have already mentioned, the final effect is really satisfying and I can recommend this CD to all fans of military ambient enclosed within a slightly unconventional frame.
