Steffen GehringBiography:
After some initial hard industrial solo recordings, it was together with members of Plastic Noise Experience that the talented and classically trained German musician Steffen Gehring took his giant step onto the electronic scene. And it was in the vocal talents of Julia Beyer that he found the perfect female singer for his project after she had left the band Inside (side-project of Darrin Huss of Psyche).
Technoir’s club invasion was imminent… After a few high profile compilation appearances, the duo released their debut MCD “Requiem” and album “Groundlevel” on the German Bloodline label, and were immediately invited to play at big festivals like Eurorock and Wave-Gotik-Treffen. In 2002 Sony also published their major hit “Love Like Blood”, a very danceable cover version of Killing Joke that was produced by Olaf Wollschläger.
Steffen then took the road again as the live keyboardist for Plastic Noise Experience while Julia contributed vocals to the comeback album and tour of The Eternal Afflict. After some remixing duties for Steffen (Psyche, Eternal Afflict, PNE, OVNI, etc.) and several special guest vocal contributions for Julia (Melotron, Distorted Reality, Rotersand…), Technoir have now put their focus on their much anticipated album that is entitled “Deliberately Fragile”. With a harder edge and a darker touch, Steffen’s new songs feature that special melodic touch that perfectly suits Julia’s impressive vocal range.
