The Fallacy - Love Division

I admit, that to a certain point, I took care of, that each of the reviewed items was approached contextually - what the artists were inspired by, what is the history of the genre, "what the author had in mind," and so on... It turned out, that it went out badly for the creators, so I changed tactics - let the music defend itself, because you can write whatever, but the sound never lies. Something is either valuable or not - coherent, intelligent, insightful or even wisely using secondary implementing measures. How in that context defends The Fallacy with Love Division position? Let's see.
Firstly, what deserves applause is the faith, with which the musicians recorded the album. It can be listened in vocal, you can hear in the musical layer. It is really important, because it promises really successful concerts, with good energy, satisfying fans. Second worth emphasizing fact is, that there are really pleasing to the soul and intellect texts, which altogether with a chosen musical path create a coherent, absolutely devoid of inconsistencies climate. Fans of the genre should be really satisfied, all is played well.
As for the album structure, harder tracks alternate with ballads, really nice change from some of a vaudeville Angel Face to No Dreams at Home - it also demonstrates artist’s sense, how the record should effect the listener. It will not make you tired or bored. A plus.
And the music itself... Is there something revealing, recording with blood in the history of music? No. Does it have to? Of course not. But there are some aspects, that need to be worked out, in the sense – they do not have to be so vague, easy.
Firstly, the potential of the two vocals, female and male. If we already have two voices, then it is tempting to do with them something interesting, work on the voltage, to do something that goes beyond a framework of harmony... where they are singing the same thing, each in its register, as it is nicely called - in unisono. For what? Absolutely not used potential of two well-sounding vocals. Maybe in the song Through Separated Waters they defend themselves, each has their own verse, and harmony is arranged interestingly, you can feel the atmosphere - it can be one of the most powerful positions on the list.
Putting aside the singers, let's get behind the music. There is one thing, that I can not forgive anyone and anywhere - synthetic string section. Acoustic instrument sounds totally different (or even electrical one) hooked to an effect, if you really want to play with electronics, and clear, artificial, primitive synths, which are eager to be a violin, but they never will. It just does not sound good. It is completely different to listen to artists, who create on synths from the beginning to an end, because that is the assumption of their music, but such a combo you do-not-know-what... I do not understand. It seems, that creators from The Fallacy have big ambitions, and at such an elementary level, just... let it go? Indeed, hiring a string quartet from the nearest academy/conservatory of music is not a big expense, and music on the album Love Division would sound much more majestic. Even with these unfortunate vocals in unisono, since they are made that way. Too bad, the melodies are really interesting and it could be a whole lot, lot better.
But for the consolation add, guitars solos defend themselves with a quite nice note. And the piano sounds really cute, melodies are carried on so well, that one could easily sing any of the pieces. At the end of Die With Me you can listen to.
For whom is that record? For fans of The Fallacy, that’s for sure. For those, who do not mind unsophisticated implementing measures. For those, who like to hum.
Personally I leave a solid rating, academic four - you can listen to a good intention, but rather a kind of a weltschmerz or catharsis will not happen.
