"In Love Or Despair" is a debut album from a one man project The Flood. Not so distant 80’s have the habit of constantly reminding about themselves, but while listening to this album there is no doubt that they are still in a good condition.

The release presents emotionally vibrating image of inner experiences, saturated with intense music and piercing through, sung with a warm, yet disillusioned vocal. Artist skillfully combines various elements of dark electronics, and thanks to that we are dealing with a mature sound. Album presents 14 pleasant tracks, quite diverse in their structure, which are set in the 80's, and at the same time they are characterized by an interesting melodic line. Lyrics in some places are quite enigmatic, but it does not spoil the whole in any way. In some of the pieces appear processed vocal and twisted electronics which altogether creates quite disturbing climate.
Markus Hof intelligently combines the old with the new, both at the level of synthesizers as with carefully constructed atmosphere. Gradually adding subsequent sounds making some kind of reconfiguration of the whole, to successively glint with a mixture of tones based on the classical sound, while supporting that process with a modern machinery. This procedure allows you to participate in some kind of journey for admirers of varied musical sensations.

That album is a unique document showing both sentimental feelings as individual fears and concerns. In a very emotional way it tells about tribulations of everyday life while maintaining a fresh approach. And at the same time it is not deprived of a specific poetics.
