The Mission formed in 1986 and forged a reputation as being one of the most incredible live bands in the world and over a 22 year period of international success, producing ten amazing albums, they disbanded following four spectacular shows at Shepherds Bush Empire. Now, back on tour to celebrate 25 years since The Mission formed out of the ashes of The Sisters of Mercy, they will be calling in at cities across the length and breadth of Europe to remind everyone what a sensational band they are. This show at the Brixton 02 Academy sold out two months in advance!
Original band member Wayne Hussey will deliver an exclusive DJ set for his fans. The excitement of witnessing this artist up close and personal in the relative intimacy of Jamm will be an amazing experience for everyone who manages to get a ticket. Having several decades of being an influential artist from the late 70's with Liverpool punk bands and later with Dead or Alive, Sisters of Mercy, The Mission and of course as a solo artist, it is without question that Wayne Hussey has the musical knowledge to whip the venue into a frenzy with an array of tracks that only someone of this experience would be able to do. Hussey's charisma and energy was no small part in The Mission being seen as one of the best 'live' bands to grace this earth and Jamm will certainly have a taste of this as the band and fans take the party through until dawn.
Jamm is a magnet for bands who use the venue as the choice place for their afterparty. Beirut, Two Door Cinema Club, MGMT, Groove Armada, Levellers, The Foals, The Charlatans, Massive Attack, Orbital, Franz Ferdinand, The Maccabees, Florence and the Machine, Hot Chip, The Pogues and The Specials and have all partied until dawn following gigs down the road.
There is no doubt that if you were not lucky enough to purchase your ticket for the live show, this afterparty will go some way to ease the pain and disappointment, especially featuring DJ set from the bands front man. This in itself is an opportunity not to be missed. Get involved!
