Cynical Existence is a Fredrik Croon solo project. So far, he dealt with vocals and lyrics, shared projects with the Project Rotten and Menschdefekt. On the debut album he decided to try and make everything from bases. His first EP, 'A Familiar Kind of Pain "issued in April 2012,in the plan was to derive from the old school industrial, harsh EBM and dark electro. We find here 8 tracks referring to the events and feelings in Fredrik life.
After few listenings of this album can be seen that the songs were selected to be suitable not only to the dance floor, but also to induce different emotions. This creates a kind of dark atmosphere, steeped in diverse influences from EBM circles. The songs are clearly personal, and there are no themes of death, war, which is often visible on the industrial scene. Throughout the EP synthesizer sound is combined with vocals, creating a harmonic whole, and a pity that it's only less than 30 minutes. That what you will find here may be nothing original and new, but there is no unnecessary layers.
'A Familiar Kind of Pain' sounds very nice and is definitely a good debut. Although it probably will be olny few those that this production attract. This is not a type of music to the pillow and that is good, probably because I will come back to it in a boring evening with books. I especially can recommend hearing this to Combichrist and Hocico fans. It is interesting that the number of copies of the album is limited to 100 physical copies on worldwide (50 in Europe, 50 in the U.S.). Personally i am not in favor of this kind of entertainment,But for every day listeners of this genre, it may be worth the attention position.
Tracklist:
01. Always and Forever
02. Dead Eyes (See no future)
03. I'm broken feat. Pre Emptive Strike 0.1
04. Release Me
05. Insecure
06. Paradox
07. Licking my skin
08. Dead Eyes (See no future) – Controlled Collapse remix
