Daimonion - Daimonion
At last!! It was the first thing that came to my mind, when I found out that Daimonion had officially released their debut album. I saw them twice, both times at Castle Party(in Grodziec and in Bolków), and each time, especially after their concert in 2001, I heard that releasing of their record is really close. Unfortunately it hasn't happened. Until now.
Although their musical inspiration is rather obvious, I think their music is much fresher than other bands', which are influenced by FOTN (like NFD or This Burning Effigy for example). Maybe it's because of a language (every song on this album is in Polish), maybe it's because of charisma of the front man. I don't know. Those songs are not new( this album was to be released in 2001) and I heard most of them before, but they've got that power of being fresh.
The lyrics are about things that everyone can experience: love, life and death, but the way it's done is very interesting. Youth as a force driving our existence (“Wiatr”), love and death combined ( “Noc”), love as a passion (“ Tak blisko, a tak daleko”) and finally death as a way to another dimension (“ Styks”). Everything's simple but not trivial. And the music, which completes the mood and lets us fly in the spaces created by the band. All is in its place, however there is one thing I'm not really convinced by – the end of the "Styks". But it's only the matter of opinion.
To sum up. Listening to this CD is a must for those, who like interesting lyrics and spacious musical landscapes. For those who are, I'm not afraid to use this word, Romantics. I'm really grateful for this album (although I really miss songs in English), and I'm really looking forward to the next step in Daimonion's history. I hope that waiting for it won't last another six years.
