The year 2011 is special for Republika fans. 30 years since the founding of the band, 10 years after the death of Grzegorz Cichowski. Therefore, every now and then we hear about better or worse releases on which artists pay tribute to Ciechowski, singing his masterpieces better or worse. Half Light band of Toruń is up against the debut album of Republika - "Nowe sytuacje".
They take inspiration definitely, not following Cichowski blatantly. After all, there is only one master. Krzysztof Janiszewski sings in the climate of Republika, that's one similarity to the original. Electronic versions refresh the, already a little dusty, album making it accessible for younger generations, you can see the difference in music over 28 years. 2 bonuses in the form of "Bikini Death" and "Hallucinations" performed in English with the orchestra show the individuality of interpretation.
The song Halucynacje promotes the album, I think it’s an excellent choice of the band from Toruń.
My favorite tracks are the aforementioned "Bikini Death" and "My lunatycy".
I believe that the album defends itself among many releases issued this year and dedicated to Republika, because, first of all, it doesn’t imitate but sheds a new light on old songs. Thanks to such bands the memory of fantastic achievements of Polish bands will never die and can encourage young people to grab their parents’ old CDs.
