Larsen's CD titled Retention no. 1 is like a return to the past, to the start of his career. After years again Leaether Strip's fan can buy a re-edition of the first album. This time the record Retention no. 1 includes two CDs. The first one was remastered, and this is a re-edition of Larsen's debut – The Pleasure of Penetration. There the listener can dive into the dark side of a human mind. The Composer in all compositions gives us a lot of pure energy hidden in electronic beats. All tracks on CD are very brisk, like invitations to dance. The remastered tracks are still strong and wild, similar to these which the listener knows from the first version. The second CD - The Pleasure of Reproduction 2007 - is a variation about Leaether Strip's debut. There you can hear ten tracks known and descended from The Pleasure of Penetration. This few compositions of Larsen are completely reinterpreted. Through this change he gave them new quality. In Japanese Bodies or Die die die The Composer connects dialogue and music, which is a typical solution for him. The Pleasure of Reproduction 2007 is more wild, more dynamic and more rapt. On this Larsen's production we can find typical vocal and a trademark rhythm. In my opinion the best compositions on both CDs are: Touchdown breakdown, Khomeini, Japanese bodies, Fit for flogging, Japanese bodies 07, Leaether Strip part II 07. Album Retention no. 1, remastered The Pleasure of Penetration and re-edit The Pleasure of Reproduction 2007. This album is a proof of this music gender being still popular. Paraphrasing a famous punk watchword we can say about Leaether Strip's and industrial music, that ‘EBM is not dead’, it's still alive and well.
